It seems increasingly likely that Part 8 will the be the last MAIN JoJo part. Araki said he would probably retire around 60, and he's 60. Fleshing out JoJolion to be the best it can be, and a fitting conclusion to the seinen universe, would be preferable to ending it within a year to rush out a ninth part.

Part 7 and Part 8 are in a completely separate, alternate universe, and are effectively a reboot. Part 6 is the end of the original JoJo saga, and Part 7 is the beginning of a new continuity with callbacks to the original.
